Teach a kid to fish, you better have alot of jigheads and patience!
My son & I took our neighbor kid, Zach, out for his first in-shore fishing experience. He fishes alot with Ethan in the ponds and went sharking with us once, but had never caught a red, trout or flounder. In fact, he’d never cast a spinning reel.
A club member set me up on a honey hole, but after about an hour of gnat attacks and no bites, we decided it wasn’t working today. We went further up the Wando and hit another money spot. I pulled a red out from under a dock, but other than that - notta.
Everything that worked last week wasn’t working.
Hit a creek mouth and Zach screams “I got one!” Indeed he did! A beautiful 18" flounder. We fished several more spots, where I picked up several rat reds and a dink trout.
Zach’s a great kid and loves to fish. I hoped to put him on more fish. We are going to give it a go again this weekend and se if we can’t put him on a BUNCH OF FISH!
Zach’s a picky eater but he wolfed that flounder and some red fish we brought home! Looking forward to Friday!
