Stop. Read my post. Check the word “OR”. I assume by your reply that you are ignorant to the profiles of many college Presidents. (and in the case of CofC—successful Presidents).
I like to read before the OR, the “Hint: at least two of them had a (D) next to their names” speaks volumes as to how you’re interpreting my opinion about McConnel. You, for some reason, are trying to pin the fact that I don’t like him as president of CofC because he’s a Republican. If you actually read my first post, you would see that I in fact do not not like him for the position, but am “concerned” (not irritated, upset, protesting, being a democrat, etc.) about how his past translates into running CofC.
Did I say that he was going to be a terrible leader? No. I’m well aware that former politicians have ran colleges. You know it’s okay to have reservations about someone’s credentials. Especially when the search firm was hired, and then totally ignored. That doesn’t make me a big republican hating liberal democrat.
I got it. You like to read PART of a statement and then quit. Maybe you should work on that bad habit.
Maybe YOU shoud reread your first post. I’ll make it easy for you.
This is hilarious. You’re trying so hard to find something to argue about. There is no amount of quoting or bringing up awesome little fun factoids that’s going to change the fact that I think the process was questionable. I’m not saying I hate GM and think it’s a terrible decision. If you don’t acknowledge that there was political cronyism involved then you’re blind.
I like to read part of a statement? From the person who quoted me and is bolding the parts he wants to fight about and ignoring the parts where I was supporting the decision. Acknowledging both sides of the story makes you informed, not a gol’ dern liberal democrat.
I said bleh about the NAME University of Charleston. My God man give it up. For the last time I like the guy.
So I take it you didnt know that CofC has had pols as successful Presidents. I also take it ath you didnt taht here is a upward trend of collges/universities in hiring pols as presidnets (UNC, Miami, Cal, Purdue, etc etc etc).
Seems to me ----you were just looking for something to argue about in your OP and got stuck with some stubborn facts.
You’re right, totally thought every college president was an academic that started out as a kindergarten teacher and worked there way up to college president. You just ruined my outlook on life. Thanks.
Interesting, you’re still going with this. I’ve never had such a long argument about the fact that I’m not arguing with someone, but hey I’m down for firsts. The facts aren’t what’s being stubborn here.
I’ll concede it to you: you are far more aware of the number of college presidents that are politicians than I. That concession changes absolutely nothing, because I never was actually arguing that GM was going to make a bad president due to his political background.
