Go pro Tips?

Just got into the whole go pro thing. Hero 3+ to be exact. Any helpful tips to help skip the learning curve? Thanks y’all

Some say turn it on and let it run. I like to turn mine on to catch specific bits of action - it’s much easier to edit that way. Leaving it on will mean scrolling thru tons of boring video to find 30 seconds of something nice.

When you dip the camera in the water, a drop of water will almost form on the lens and mess up videos. Give a quick wipe of the lens with your finger to get rid of the drop of water.

I keep a neoprene beer cozy slipped over my cameras to keep them from getting scratched.

Keep the videos short. Videos much longer than 3 minutes and people won’t click it. 2 minutes is a perfect size and you can get a lot of action in 2 minute movies.

Experiment with different ways to mount the camera. My homemade mount is my favorite:

It’s made with a piece of flat bar aluminum with an old flashlight handle and a swim noodle for floatation. You can one or two hand hold it for nice steady shots.

Other than that, it’s mostly point and shoot.

I did this one with my Contour, but it’s the same principle using Windows Movie Maker to edit the movie clips and put everything together.

Ditto on the coozie covers, I use the bottle zip type.
Go find that GoPro 3+ app for the Android, it’s KILLER, VERY good tool.
Make SURE you get a Class 10 or faster SD card, I have 6 of the 32G.
Get a portable 15000 amp-hour battery charger and keep the GoPro on it when idle, battery life is at a premium.

Extra batteries are cheap. Walmart has them in the $15 dollar range. I always keep an extra or 2 in my case.

Remember, when in doubt, keep filming.

I have a head strap and can fit it over my visor. It gives great 1st person gaff shot/fish leader videos.

You can pull some great still photos out of the videos pretty easily.

Be sure to get a float(floaty back is what I have)for it. Better safe than sorry.
