Goat Island Mud Flats

Fished the mud flats and oyster beds between James Island and Goat Island Sunday after noon. Didnt have a single bite. TONS!!! I MEAN TONS !!! of bait in the water. Next time Im bringing my cast net and a cooler and just pickin up shrimp, haha. Did have an around 10" shrimp/lobster/prawn lookin thing jump into my Yak and scare the poop outa me. Real wierd look, Ive seen them before but never that big. I wanna say they are called Mantis Shrimp?

I was gonna grab it to take pic but wasnt sure if it had some kind of super horn that hurt 10 time worse that a creek shrimp, haha. But seriously, can you eat those things?

stick,

Thats the first time Ive Yaked up there near Goat Island. I have caught lots of Reds, Trout and Flatties a little farther East of there, like your heading out to the MI Light.

asians eat them, apparently they’re pretty good just a pain to get the meat out. They will cut the piss out of you if you’re not careful. have two cutting apparatuses in the front (aka mantis) and then a really hard and spiny tail on the ass end that they’ll ■■■■■ you with. probably one of the most interesting things to have in a small aquarium though because they recognize their owners and are downright fierce to anything you put in there.
