Goat Island

Guys,
I have the opportunity to use a friends vacation cottage on Goat Island. I’m curious about the fishing there. Where, what to use bait-wise, etc. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Where on Goat? Will you have access to the backside of the Island on the creek or will your dock be on the ICW? If you are along the ICW there will not be a ton of action. The docks behind the island hold fish but the area gets pressured A LOT. Mud Minnows on the bottom around dock structure is what I would try.

Thanks Fritz! Not sure which side to be honest but I will have a boat so I can access the entire island.

If you like them, there are some good oysters back up the creek. Oysters are one thing I can always catch since they can’t move.

You can buy your mud minnows at the IOP marina fuel dock if they can get minnows or you can catch your own.

People will forget what you said…
People will forget what you did…
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

False. Those little buggers always escape me and go hiding under the water at least twice a day.

Goat Island has some good fishing, if you have access to a boat, fish all sides of it. I’ve caught fish all around it at different times.

Thanks everyone!
