I’m not a Democrat but he as a S.C. senator sure helped me get a past port years ago! I was born in England to a British mother and farther and moved to the states thru Canada in 1951 and was naturlised in 1962 but could not find the paper work or my birth certific. His office worked for a week and got me my past port with out the help I could not even get my SS I had paid in all my life!
My brother was in the Coast Gaurd and stationed in Charleston in the 1990’s.
He said every year Fritz Hollings would have a lobster dinner arranged for the guys at his base. He was a great man!
