Hello, I am going out to the Lakeside resort next weekend. I plan on renting a pontoon boat on Saturday and cruising the lake. The idea is to just get away and relax but I have always wanted to catch a striper. Any advice would be appreciated.
I do not know anything about the lake. But I would guess in this heat they would be in 50-70’ of water. Probably catch them on cut or live herring. But just so you know Technically its illegal to fish “FOR” stripers until Oct from the lake Murray dam to the bottom of Santee.

Well I’ll be a son of a gun!!! I did not know this. Thanks Murray Maker. I think I’ll just cruise around. The marina says I can ride over to Mill creek and have dinner. Does anybody else have any ideas on what to do while on lake Marion. Don’t worry. I will have plenty of brewskies in the cooler and may very well be content with hanging out at the campground. Thanks for any input in advance.

Take some rods and do some cat fishing.
A friend fished a bass tournament there a couple of weeks ago and did unbelieveably well. His biggest 5 largemouth went over 24 lbs, with one over 8. If you’re interested he was fishing a wacky rigged worm with a very light sinker around cypress and tupelo trees in water from 4’ to about 8’ deep.
The bream should be about to bed, and there are some monster bream down there.
Also, the catfishing should be great down there. Try live or cut herring. If you’re not getting bit try spraying them with a little WD-40 (try it, you might like the results). Good luck!!
A catfish would be fun or an 8lb bass would be sweet!!! I’ll bring some tackle. Thanks for the ideas guys.
