Thanks for all the responses to the poll. Based on that discussion and talking to members of Lowcountry Kayak Anglers and Time Out Sports, I have decided to go with the Wilderness Systems Ride 135 for fishing saltwater in the local area. Its evident to me the Ride 135 is the most popular fishing kayak in the area by a wide margin, seems like every other person I talked to had a Ride 135 and everyone had great things to say about them. While there were other good options out there, I had to make the obvious choice.
Welcome to the addiction…you’ll enjoy the Ride.
Yeah, good choice. My experience as well, seems lots of people have or are buying the Ride 135 around here.
Great boat, I had one. You will be very happy with the Ride.

That’s what everyone has told me. I met four or five guys in LKA who own a Ride 135 and a few others on here. I couldn’t believe how popular it is with Anglers around here. The guys at Time Out Sports tell me they outsell the next best boat 2 or 3 to 1.

Thanks, I will be in before the end of the month to buy my Ride 135. I have another friend getting into kayaks who is going to stop by and see you and purchase a Ride 135.
Picked up my Ride last week and took it out on the water for the first time Saturday. Everything’s great about the boat, super stable, tracks well, plenty fast. Very happy with my selection, thanks to the board for the advice.

Congrats! What are your plans for rigging it up?

I have bought some aftermarket rod holders, going to add a trolley system for anchor. I live in Summerville so will fish alot in the upper Cooper River closer to me. Will venture out to Wando, Stono, and Folly. Hear the Wando and Folly are where the best action is.
Suggest you keep it as simple as possible until you have some float time in. A crate with a couple of rod holders and a simple stake out pole would be a great place to start. (I loath dealing with anchors on the yak.) Your desires will likely change as will the equipment you end up using while yak fishing.
