Times:

Our turkey shoot does not contain live or dead turkeys as targets. I am sorry if you are disappointed at this news!

$5 PER SHOT

Instead our turkey shoot is comprised of 10 stationary targets setup down range. 10 shooters line up at the shooting fence in front of their designated lane number. They are provided one shell of 12 gauge or .410 (your choice). The Range Officer instructs the shooters to load their shells, aim, and fire. The targets are collected, inspected, and the shooter with the closest shot to the target wins a $20 Gift Certificate.

We have house 12 gauge shotguns and .410 shotguns or you can bring your own.

We also have a concession stand onsite run by our Ladies Auxiliary selling drinks, hotdogs, candy, etc…

We look forward to seeing you!

CHARITIES: Over the years proceeds generated from the Turkey Shoot, in excess of $277,000.00, went toward direct or in kind donations to local charities like: The Charles Webb Center, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, ECCO, The Windwood Farm for Boys, Carolina Youth Development, College of Charleston Scholarship, Charleston Southern University Scholarship, Mount Pleasant Scholarship Fund, Joes Reef, Coastal Conservation Association, The Slocum Lunz Foundation, Christmas Commandos, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, The College of Charleston Foundation Scholarship Fund, The Mount Pleasant Conservancy Group, Habitat for Humanity, My Sisters House, CCA, Fishing for Miracles, Pattison’s Academy, Camp Goodtime’s & FCA.

I’ve had the argument that a turkey shoot is a lot of luck. That is a prime example! We had a winner with three pellets on the paper and one in the bullseye.

Good luck with your event!

The East Cooper Outboard Motor Club (ECOMC) is hosting its 54th annual Turkey Shoot for charity on Goldbug Island beginning Nov. 1-4. Since the beginning of this tradition, the club has raised and donated north of $290,000 to local charities. This year the goal is to break $50,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds directly supporting local charities in the Lowcountry.

The shoots will be held each Wednesday through Saturday evening. During Thanksgiving Week, the shoots will also be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Nov. 20-22. The shoot begins around 6 p.m. and rounds will be repeated until about 10 p.m. or later depending on the amount of participants. There are 10 shooters in each round and each shooter gets one shot, the closest shotgun pellet to the target is the winner. The shoot is open to the public and costs $5 per shot each round.

“It’s a really good family-oriented event, believe it or not we’ll have shooters from four to 84 years old out here… this really is a southern tradition,” said ECOMC Turkey Shoot Chairman Randy Howe.

The ECOMC club provides 12-gauge and 4-10 shotguns, safety glasses and earmuffs. For those who do bring their own shotguns, please note that the gun must be “cracked” for proof that it’s not loaded. Also, participants are prohibited from bringing their own ammunition, they are only allowed to use the club’s supply, according to Howe.

The winners of each round will receive a $20 gift card Bi-Lo.

Refreshments, including soft drinks, hot dogs, fresh popcorn, etc. are available and for sale by the ECOMC Ladies auxiliary.

Local charities the club donates to include The Charles Webb Center, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, East Cooper Community Outreach, The Windwood Farm for Boys, Carolina Youth Development, Mt Pleasant Scholarship Fund, Joe’s Buddy Reef, Coastal Conservation Association, The Slocum L
