I fished that dock and it was crazy. We used live stingrays for bait and could have caught as many as we wanted. After three of them I was whipped. This was the largest of the three. Definitely a worthwhile trip to make.
I’ve also fished that dock. The goliaths there are incredible! I went snorkeling there one day and they scared me to death. Suckers could swallow me whole [:0]

We were fishing with Chris. The guy to my left is Mark Davis. We have been good friends for years and he now host a great show on the outdoor network called Big Water Adventures. http://www.bigwateradventures.com/
Chris was telling me he has actually had them grab ahold of his fins while diving down there around them. Talk about scaring you to death.
That’s incredible. I’d love to see that

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>I thought so. Capt. Chris is a great guy and taught me a lot about fishing in Boca Grande. Showed me where and how for reds, trout, tarpon, snook, sharks and goliaths. He showed me a lot of places on the chart and offered that I could follow him out the next morning and fish his spots with him. He was doing a slam tournament which required a redfish, a shark, a goliath and a tarpon. I watched him catch all 4 in 4 hours. He also gave me a large pile of Badonk-a-Donk lures that he and Bill Dance were just developing.
Those phosphate docks are amazing, but one of those goliaths is enough for me
No way I’d do 3!

What Larry says is spot on Chris can put you on any species down there and is a greet guy. Here is a link to his page http://www.tailchasercharters.com/
Larry I did not want to do three, but Mark kept telling me I needed to catch a big one lol. An 80w with 45 pounds of drag sitting in a small chair in the font of a bay boat with nowhere to really put your feet and use your legs, while harnessed to that 80w about killed my out of shape self. A couple of times the fish surged and I could feel myself lift up off that see and thought how quickly can I reach free spool on this rascal so I don’t go overboard.
It was a rush for sure and then to get in the water with the fish and I actually grab it by the lower lip and pull it out into deeper water to release and watch it swim off. Definitely the experience of a lifetime.
Larry I have been wanting to say this for a while. The world’s most interesting man has nothing on you. You should write a book one day.

Well thanks [:I] But I ain’t nothing special. Going to write that book one day, when the statue of limitations runs out and I find out how it ends:smiley:
Capt. Chris on the other hand, I found to be a very special individual. One of those people you don’t meet many of in a lifetime and are glad you did.
I met him on my first trip to Boca Grande, about 10 years ago. We had a Southeast boat builders meet there and I arrived a day early, got my boat in the water and settled in with a cocktail at the Innlet. Chris came in with a charter and a boat load of fish and happy clients. Being a total newbie to the area I went down and started talking to him. Helped him clean his boat and picked his brain. He sat down with me the rest of the afternoon going over charts, locations, when, where. how, why, and taught me about everything I needed to know in a couple hours to have a successful trip. Only cost me about 6 beers
Then he invited me to follow him out the next morning and fish the spots he was fishing in a tournament, with a paying client aboard no less. I met him at sunrise and followed him around all morning, and did what he did, and we did very well. He won the tournament. I won a ton of knowledge and a lot of respect for the man. Made a new friend too I’ve been about 5 times since then and usually look him up to see what’s biting. Don’t know if he still does, but he used to do a morning fishing report on the radio every day from his boat.
How many local guides around here would do that for a total stranger from out of town?
