Gone Fishing Ministries held its first tournament on February 23rd out of Acapulco USA. The day was Very Cold and WET most of the day, but by end of the day the Lord cleared up the rain so we could have a great meal and message before we began to weigh in the fish. 15 teams participated in the event bringing 49 Striped Bass to the scales!
Taking the First Place honors is awarded to Team Barely Tyme Captain Brian Bair and Chip Bragg with their 4 fish creel of 40.68 lbs. Also they brought in the Big fish of the tournament at 27.96 lbs.
Second Place is awarded to Team Striper Redemption Captain Tommy Richardson, Daryl Price, and Nick Dowda with their 4 fish creel of 29.03 lbs.
Third Place was secured by Team Reality Bites Captain Woody Barnes and John Sightler with their 4 fish creel of 28.99 lbs. Also they brought the 2nd place Big fish in at 9.43 lbs.
We also paid out a 10th place spot which was awarded to Team Catchall Captain Lee Thomas, Clay Robinson and Beau McLeod with their 4 fish creel of 22.84 lbs.
Gone fishing Ministries is a small group of fishermen and their families intentionally trying to go beyond the four walls of the church and reach fishermen and their families right where they are. Gone Fishing Ministries meets every Sunday night at Lee and Cathy Thomas’ house at 6 PM for food, fellowship and Bible study. We welcome anyone who wants to come and join us. I know we enjoyed the tournament, food and door prizes… Winning some cash for 2nd biggest fish was a nice bonus too. I’m trying to get a feel for just how close in weight we were to 2nd place…Only .04 lbs difference. Thats .64 ozs…thats 18.1 grams …so less than 1/16 of 16 oz Mountain Dew, that don’t sound like much… or the weight of (18) one dollar bills…that sounds like more…lol. Every ounce counts so thats why I keep them alive for the weigh-in…
