Anybody know of anyone who has a fishing ‘yak they are not using or trying to get rid of? Looking at learning more on the aspect of kayaks and fishing, but 700-800 bucks for a molded sheet of plastic makes it hard to swallow… Also, how much does a persons size play in “fitting” for one? Someone 6’2 and 250lbs… is this impossible? I am completely new to the kayak thing, but willing to learn------ will take it up full time when i return from my turn in the sand- 3 weeks and counting…
thanx a mil’-
I have the 140 pungo, that would fit you, if you’re looking for a Sit-in-kayak (large cockpit). I would advise one of these or better yet a big sit-on-top. They are hard to find used.
Fished near Capt. Sams inlet today with gulp shrimps, minnows, chicken grub… nothing Now I will have to try again tomorrow:smiley:
I have a Perception Illusion 16’ sit on top that is great. Rigging it for fishing this summer. I’m 5’11" and the sit on top is the way to go for bigger people, I think. Easy in/out, easy to move around on for the fishing. Also have a Wilderness Systems Pungo 14 which is a great boat. I just don’t like the sit in kind as well. Go see Dee at Luden’s in downtown Charleston. He’s selling Ocean Kayak Drifters that are pretty. I’m coveting one of those right now, saving the pennies to make a purchase in a couple of months.
If you are looking for a sit in rather than a sit on look for a Perception Keowee III. It is a 2 man yak and works well for single handing. The seats are comfortable, slide forward and back easily and if you fish alone there is a ton of room for a big guy.
