I’m tryng to pick out a good 7wt combo to possibly get for Christmas. The max cost would probably be around $400. or i could just get a good rod or reel, then save up for the remaining piece of the combo. I’ll probably just end up using it for the usual lowcountry stuff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lampson reel of your choice.
head over to chas angler and talk to the guys over there. they’ll help you get set up. with line that setup will put you around 400 if not less and will cast like any lower end sage or like brand.

I have a TFO proffesional 9wt, and Im perfectly happy with it. I was actually think about that rod and a Lamson Konic or Guru.
The lamsons are nice… but Check out the new Nautilus FWX… its bad and under 300 bucks… add in that TFO or save a few pennies and get a better rod down the road… but I think that FWX is the baddest thing out there for its price right now…
But the Lamson would do fine too…
