good day at the jetties

Took my boat out to the harbor for some spanish yesterday, no luck there so I went out to the jetties for the first time, All in all it was a good day, Caught a 17 and 18" red and a 16 and 17" flounder, missed to good flounder and caught this weird looking fish apparently called a ribbon fish. Are these ribbon fish poisonous. Current got to bad so we ran to the ICW, got broke off a few times then called it a day. Did however find out that the harbor is very shallow at low tide(sand bar). STill a good day and boat handled the bigger swells out by the jetties well so I was content.

That shallow area would likely be be the Crab Bank. Dicey shallow spots around Sumter/Morris Island and entrance of JI Creek. Might want to set an alarm on your depth finder if you have one. It all looks wide open until it isn’t!

Sounded like a decent day. Ribbon fish are a trip, aren’t they. Like pulling up a sheet of foil!

Did you have two children with you? We pulled in one oversized spottail

You can eat ribbon fish all day long. They will not poison you.

and kingfish will eat ribbons all day long too!
