I almost did not go today due to the wind. Got to the ramp and almost turned around and went back home but I decided to stay and fish anyway.
Put in at Limehouse at almost high tide and headed south trolling grubs just off the grass. Had a trout on in the first few minutes. Had another right after that. Started trolling two rods and ended with a double hook up just a few minutes later. Never caught anything casting the bank or the creeks. Everything was caught trolling grubs. Ended up with about a dozen trout. Some of them were pretty nice. The biggest one I lost cause I couldnt get a good handhold. I went up in the grass looking for reds but never saw any. I was really hoping to get a red in the boat.
Even though I ended up fighting the wind a good bit, I am glad I went. Caught some nice fish and had a good time on the water.

Congrats!
Why not just hoist the trout straight into the yak? Maybe yours is a SOT?

Question. I have read about trolling on a yak. I am assuming you put a grub on, put your rod in a rod holder and just paddle along the grass line? How is your grub setup, jighead?
Thanks, just trying to file away some more info.
Yup. Just a lead head and a grub. I put my smaller rod in my little Scotty rod holder in front of me and angle it so the paddle does not hit the line or rod. And the other rod in a flush rod holder behind me. Guess paddling speed is good for trolling because they seemed to like it more like that than casting the banks. I have started trolling almost everywhere I go now and since I have started doing that, I almost always seem to pick up a trout doing so. Now if I could just get a nice red fish in the boat. I have yet to get one in the kayak.
Cool, I have a few reds this year but no trout. Thanks for the info.
