Good kids fishing spot

New to the area and Looking to take my 3 year old boy fishing this weekend. We tried daniel island park pier last weekend and barely had a bite. Any suggestions? Need to be dock, shore, or pier that I can have him with me. Any help would be great.

folly pier has pretty good fishing. lots of sharks.

The Mt. Pleasant Fishing Pier is pretty nice too. And there are swings he’d love to sit on while waiting on the bite.

The piers look nice but trying to avoid the 8 dollar fibs fee and the parking fee.

Try Palmetto Islands county park in Mt. Pleasant. Only costs $1 per person to get in the park. Get a map at the gate and go to the fishing dock. You’ll have to park in the parking spaces in among the trees and walk the 1/4 or so to the dock. The first dock you’ll see is where kayaks launch and you can fish there, but not much water at low tide. Go on down the path to the the main fishing dock. Make sure to have at least one rig with a small hook, a little weight and a float for the kid. You can use small pieces of shrimp and he’ll catch lots of pinfish, spots, and croakers. If you walk down the path behind that main dock, there is another dock on a small creek. It’s a good place to catch live bait. Catch some bait and go back to the main dock and fish parallel to the rocks to your right on the incoming tide with live shrimp, finger mullet, mud minnows, menhaden, cut mullet that you can catch in a cast net. My kids and I have caught some nice reds off that dock over the years.
Also there is a nice play area when you first come in the park if the little dude gets tired of fishing. Low tide incoming is the best. You won’t do much over there when the tide is high.:sunglasses:

Thanks jack. Stopped on way home from work over by the old naval yard and caught three nice reds. Might take him there sat morning and then over to palmetto islands park after if no bite.

Even though me and my son love to eat fresh fish I did catch and release all three. After a quick photo of course. Forgot my measure guide.

Jaberryhill, if thats on noisette it’s posted no fishing/no trespassing. About 6 months ago there were all kinds of people fishing it, then they started fishing from the bridge and stopping traffic and leaving trash. Then they started fishing from the train trussel. Needless to say, since they couldnt just fish from the bank like normal, now it’s closed to everyone.
