My wife’s aunt and uncle are in town and want me to take them crabbing from a dock tomorrow. Is Bowen’s the best place? They just want to hang a string off the side with some bait on it…HELP!!! Thanks!
if you are “chicken necking,” you need to be somewhere where you can get to the waters edge and bring the crabs up to the bank- they will drop off your line if you try to pull them straight up. You might also need a landing net of some kind.
Just about any bend in any creek that you can stand next to will work. If you get some ring nets ($2-$3 at walmart) you can crab off just about any dock and get them, too.

the bridge and surrounding marsh on Wappoo rd. entering Edgewater Park in west ashley is a great spot for crabbing from the shore.
The biggest best crabs I’ve ever seen were on the docks at McClellanville.
