Apparently I owe the IRS some money and I need some quick cash. I think I’ve used this set up about 5 times.
What i have is…
-4 piece 9 foot 8 weight St. Croix Reign 908.4 with carrying case(retails for $160)
-Okuma Sierra 7/8 weight reel(retails for about $40)
-8 weight Wf-f fly line and backing
-8 weight WF-s fly line
I think i ended up paying about $250 for it all brand new this summer. It is in great condition and I would like to sell all of this for about $150.
Only thing I’d trade it for would be a Shimano Baitrunner 4500 in great condition with some cash.
I go to the citadel so i’m only able to get out and be available on weekends.
What is this crap? Giving up that easy? You didn’t even catch your first Redfish off of it yet have you? Although I understand flyrod leaning in the fullpress or weekend beer money? Tough decision for a young cadet…
haha actually i used my friend’s setup for a while and just left mine in the truck whenever we would go fishing since his was much nicer. I just could never get really big into it. I’m glad I at least tried it. And it’s more like truck repair money anyways.
I’m not in any huge hurry to sell it, and if i don’t sell it, i might eventually give it another chance one day.
I agree stick with it. If you have your mind set let me know I have some regular rods and reels worth about 200.00 or alittle under. Honestly I dont even consider that reel saltwater material. I have the same one and it doesnt stand a chance in salt so ill minus that off the price. Let me know if your intersted in the trade. My email is InTheShadows024@hotmail.com or I can drop you my cell number.
Do they still let you knuckleheads check out boats from the boat house. When I was there that was always a good way to get out on the weekdays. We would check out a boat after lunch and head out fishing until the late afternoon (always getting back by evening formation cause we still had to go to one…). It was during those formative years that I learned the intricacies of the long rod. Anyways stick with it, sell some books if you need cash.
Stick w/ it!!! Yeah Chris B that was one of the only advantages of the Citadel. Take a boat class and you get the boats! I don’t think they do that anymore b/c they stopped my Senior year.
Since i’m only a knob i have to take the mandatory RPED classes before i can take the Boating class but as soon as i do that, i will be renting those boats out and using them as much as possible. I can only go so far in my jon boat, just wait till i get a hold of one of those whalers…
I’m thinking about keeping it unless i get a serious cash offer, i already have a decent inshore rod and don’t NEED another, so why get rid of it when i might feel like trying again in a few years…
You have walk-on access to an awesome place right in front of the school where reds are known to lurk (everyone knows this, so I am not divulging any secrets). Keep at it with the long rod. Once you hook a red on the fly you might possibly forget about conventional gear!
Yeah Rap you don’t need the Whalers you can jump in one of the canoes and there are reds all over the place at low tide at the mouth of the marina there. Make sure to look at how strong of a tide it is before you head out b/c there will be no water for an hour or three if you aren’t careful. Thats never good when you have a formation to be at!
