What’s a good, cheap (hopefully free) program that I can use to edit my GoPro videos on the PC? I don’t need anything fancy. Just really want to trim out the boring parts…
skinneej; just so you know, you kissing that coral, would not be considered boring:smiley:

What, you talked dirty to it first?
Microsoft moviemaker
Please let me know when you have made it run much faster so that it doesn’t kill my small NetBook pc…
Free (with windows) and pretty easy to use. I’ve used it for a few dozen videos for those reasons.

Kodak has a program called arc soft media impressions or something like that. Pretty easy to trim and save clips and then combine clips and add photos
Do you already have this?

Windows Live Movie Maker is what I use. It is about as high tech as I am, not very. Perfect for me.
I would assume you would have some Super Kung Fu program with your techno status, no?

will check this out, thanks.
the kodak program is good, too.
I just have learned to operate moviemaker and am comfortable with it. Only gripe I have with it is that it’s so sloooooooow.

Thanks to all… I already have MSFT Movie maker installed. I’m trying that and seems to be pretty simple… And yes, it is slooowwww…
'Just got finished starting up on Windows Movie Maker. My experience was that it was very slow and buggy if you tried to use any media formats other than the Microsoft/Windows native formats (.wma, .wmv). I had to convert my videos from various MPEG variations to .wmv. 'Used FormatFactory for the conversions. Google it. You’ll find it quickly.
Without converting to the native Microsoft media formats, I was able to clip the videos and build a story board. But, when it came to writing out the finished product, the final video, what Movie Maker calls ‘publishing’ the video, if I had an mpeg or two in the mix, the ‘publish’ process would get to a certain percentage and then just stop there. Not crash. Not error out. Just stop, forever.
A little web surfing pointed to using the native Microsoft media formats. Also, turn off ALL of the filters. Something like: Options->Filters-> uncheck all of them.
After that, I was able to edit and publish without issue.

I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio (about $70 on Amazon, cheaper if you know someone with an educational discount). It is definitely more complicated than WMM, but MUCH more powerful. I have yet to master the program, but it’s capabilities are great for the price.
I am very much against Apple products, but their movie program puts out some nice results like the video below:
Its just slightly disturbing that the related videos section for your video is pee wee’s playhouse!!
Hah! I never noticed that… I think I might have to get that video taken down!
I hate movie maker. I spent $59 for AVS4YOU software including lifetime updates.
Works like a champ.

IMO Avid studio is where it’s at…
The free plugins from RED are worth more than the cost of the program. The RED filters are real useful for underwater stuff, and giving your videos an overall more polished look.
Using a cheap video editor is kinda like trolling with last seasons refrozen ballyhoo. You’ve already dropped $300+ on the camera, whats another $100 for a decent video editor?
The camera was a gift!

A little later I learned I could strip audio from one camera and overlay onto another view.
