Got a couple...

KloudKing and DD went out Sat am early, beat the line at Better Baits again! Got a “healthy count” on 2 dozen bluebax, took some good advice and tried the trench at Yacht Cove - lot’s of fish on the cheat sheet! But only one 20" fish… saw some trollers haul a few in about the same size. Sun up, we went back to Jake’s in 90’ - no bites. Chug-a-lugged over to Wessinger, marked some fish in 60’ and got a 24" fish pretty quick! We called it a “decent” day fishing and a “GREAT” morning on the water!

Pretty new to fishing stripers on Lake Murray. Any advice on how to catch them (rigs, depth, etc). I hear 30-40ft is ideal, do you just count it out as you release line? Thanks for any help you can give.

Use a “fish finder” rig, similar to a carolina rig with a 1/2 oz egg sinker and about 18" of 15lb leader. Get a round bait tank, go get some herring from a local shop, ask them where to look, use your depth finder and find the stripers where they tell you to look… should look like this on your fish finder:
I let my line down right beside the transducer, I can see it drop, pretty amazing. Let it stop above the fish.

Hook herring through the nose, use a big circle hook (4/0?).
DON’T HORSE THE FISH, let him take out drag, keep the pressure on.
Send big filets to me for quality assurance.

Wow, nice graph! It’s not rocket science and with the pictures, I don’t even have to read anymore…T

Dilly Dally has a great fishfinder! When we dropped the bait down behind the boat you could see it on the screen. Great day of fishing. Dilly, I’ll be working in Charlotte next week but we’ll hook up when I get back. Bought me a bow and I’m going to try a little bow-fishing also.

Y’know technically you caught the big one… the net has to work to get the fish in the boat!

Yeah, we’ll get back together and wear out some of them big mouths.
