Got in em today

We wore them out this afternoon, but all about 15-19 inches.
Caught on live bait then got bored and trolled broke back rapalas and caught plenty more. Finally got my kids on the fish. If I could only find a 21 inch fish :slightly_smiling_face:

sounds like you had a great day! hopefully next time you can find a couple you can take home. but the most important thing is getting the kids out there and having fun right? Tight lines!

I know that spot

I am sure you do :sunglasses::
They were boiling on top yesterday right before dark with bait pushed up and plenty of birds diving. Stevie Wonder could have found them. Tell me how to increase my odds of finding a keeper. Are they ever mixed in with these schoolies?
Thanks

got some last weekend on the other side of the towers and down in yacht cove. but have caught many keepers in schools, just throw some big plugs in there when you see em on the surface. its alot of luck invovled though of course, but big bait normally means big fish :), but glad you got out and caught some fish!

bucktails, let em sink before you start workin em back to the boat

I have always heard the bigger fish are down under the small ones. But I never caught a legal fish out of a surfacing school

i’ve caught a couple throwing creek chubs into schools, heard you can catch some big ones on letting bucktails sink under the little ones, never caught any that way, but i’m willing to bet that they work.

Someone else told me the same thing today about letting bucktails fall through them before retreiving. I have a ton of these 'butterbean" type bucktails with feathers on them. Mine are all solid yellow or solid white. Is this similar to what you are talking about. Also, would you add a curly tail to your bucktail in this situation?
Thanks, You guys have been very helpful.

I like throwing a 3/8 oz white spro bucktail(sometimes 1/2 oz to get deeper) with a small green curly tail worm trimmed to size. I think any color will work its just a preference thing for me. A friend of mine throws only yellow bucktails and wont use any other color.

my problem with that way is everytime i throw it out there it gets hit by a little one before it sinks then i never can get a legal one, is there a trick to it? or is it just hope that it gets down all the way?

Always been a fan of your normal walmart, dooleys, etc bucktail with more circular head, 1/4-1/2 oz with chartreuse and green hawg caller. Only Dooleys makes these hawg callers now but I tell you 1 thing they make a HUGE Difference…Since 1999 I have swore by them and forever will.

Were you pulling free lines along the rocks here or drifting/pulling down rods?
