Despite the early flood tide and the howling wind, Dandy Randy met me at the house around 6:30am. We had the boat wet by 7am at Bushy Park with the hopes of catching some fish. We planned on live baiting and sure enough, had over 100 3" finger mullet as well as an 18" striper after 5 throws of the net. So, game on! We ended up grinding it out during the early morning in the wind and tides, but the fish couldn’t resist those mullet. As 1pm approached, the tide was right and Charleston Harbor produced a school of trout to us that was incredible for the size of the trout. In the end, like many others yesterday, we had a great day! Our biggest 5 trout went almost 17# with the biggest around 3.4#. Throw in some fat slot reds and a 16" flattie and Dandy Randy got his slam. Too bad he lost those nice sheepshead at the end to make it a super slam!
Water temp was around 62-64 and most of our fish were caught on a popping cork between 4-6’ deep. We had to quit fishing for my “date night” with the wife otherwise this day could have been an all-time, tell your grandkids kind of trip. Back at the ramp by 2pm with enough fish to feed all of the neighbors and friends.
