I had been promising my daughter, Emily, that we would go fishing Thanksgiving weekend. After a lot of discussion, she decided that we would get up and have a big family breakfast on Friday, then go fishing with lots of snacks. So, after a big breakfast, we (I) loaded the boat up and off we went with enough snacks to feed a family of 8, ! I canât help, but not want to hurry and go, knowing the tide and such, but somehow the good Lord gave me lots of patience today. After launching the boat at Bushy Park around 10am, we had a cold boat ride to our spot. So, we finally had lines in around 10:30am. Seeing that the water temp was 55, we used the trolling motor to troll with. The 1/8oz grubs trolled along at 1.25mph, slowly bumping along and flashing their silver and green sparkles. We ended up working a 30yd area of a small, 10ft deep creek that produced 16 trout in about 2hrs of fishing. What a sight, seeing Emily reeling in a trout with Hersheyâs candy bar all over her face and the reel handle
. We kept a few for the livewell just for company, but in the end, thanked God for a beautiful, safe daddy/daughter day, and let them go to swim back with their buddies. Back at the landing by 1pm.
