Too tired to give the entire story, but cobia is on the menu this weekend
! Details will follow later…
So, the story continues…
Hydrotherapy and Got2Go decided to make the most of the 13th by heading out for some cobia action or at least that was the plan. A lot of variables stacking up against us, like having to leave my house at 9:30am after working all night and the wind deciding to bark a little louder than we wanted. Had the boat in the water around 10:30am and started looking for bait, and then we looked, and we looked, and finally, we looked some more. We managed to get a total of 5 baits in about 1.5hrs. Uh oh. In the process of looking around, we did come across 2 schools of nice reds and a nice bonnethead that almost had a superpro on his back,[:0]. There was a nice school of dolphins that were crushing some more reds on a bank and sliding back in the water which is always cool to watch. So, reluctantly and slowly we headed out to the area we wanted to fish. By the time we got there, my body was hurtin’ from lack of sleep, hunger, headache, and too much caffeine. I was pretty much useless,
. Hydro slapped me around a little bit and I tried to get the boat over our area as he tried to fish. Doosh, wave over the bow, wind howling, current ripping, this sucks! And then, COBIA! Hydro dropped the bait in from it like Bill Dance and OH SON, fish on!!! Minutes later, a Trident entry cobia goes into the cooler. Tried fishing some more, but nothing as the wind, current, and waves were winning. Finally, in a last ditch effort we opted to anchor up. Took a few tries, but Phin’s teaching finally got us lined up. Set out the spread, Hydro hooks up, but gets broke off.
Now, I’m feeling better after 6 Motrin and throwing up twice. Got2Go’s hooked up, finally. Hold it to him with the new Tyrnos and Trevally and put another 40# pig in the boat! And then, from somewhere inside of me, I let out the loudest Ric Flair “WHOOOOO” scream ever. Mission accomplished, time to go home.
