Derek, wife saw the pics and was like, hold on, what is that, lol.

I’ve used Bugs recipe before but, didnt look as appetizing as these:stuck_out_tongue:.

Well done for sure!!

Nice work as usual, fellas. Looks flat out there. I see a Senator 113H (I think) on a Star rod in one of the pics. Is this your standard bottom setup? Just curious.

northchuky – did you use Bugchatchers recipe or did you do something different? Definitely need to try those!

That’s D’s big fish whooper. He can elaborate more, but that US Senator is a beast in his hands.

I use his recipe and technique. I just kind of improvise with what I have on hand

These ones I used:

4 trig filets chopped into small chunks
6 of those small sweet peppers, diced
1/4 of a white onion, diced
A couple of green onions, diced
Chopped parsley

I mix all that up with S&P and garlic powder. I then add a generous amount of panko and an egg. Add a few tablespoons of mayo until you get a thick mixture. Hand form into patties. I follow Ed’s suggestion and put on a sheet pan in the freezer for 30 minutes or so. Pan fry in a cast iron and then transfer to a baking sheet to finish cooking in the oven. Usually 10-15 minutes on 350. Just depends how thick I made the patties. Like Ed said they like to fall apart so you have to be gentle with em.

Ideally I’d add a jalepeno and some celerey but I didn’t have it that night.

The reel is the new American made senator the narrow spool version that’s basically a clone of the old Baja special. The rod is the 6’ paraflex H. Spooled with 80 pound Jerry brown WHITE BRAID son! Lol

I do run a 50 foot section of 100 pound top shot. Light in my hand and has plenty of punch for big fish. Love it for live bait. Some people go heavier obviously but just not my style bud

A little late to the party, but what else to do on a rainy Saturday? Derek had made my mind up to try some sort of rendition of his and Bugcatchers trigger burgers. I did the basics with a little bell pepper, onion, Old Bay, mayo, Dijon Mustard, egg and rolled out the saltines into a fine meal with a 100 year old rolling pin (pro tip). Saute in olive oil until brown, then as Derek suggested, pop into the 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes. Served with lemon pasta and fresh kale sauteed in garlic and olive oil. Along with a nice bottle of Hess Select Chardonnay, it was a big hit hit . Thanks for the inspiration.

Great recipe for Triggers, very versatile with ingredients. Would love to have the basics for Corn Salad, specifically with sweet corn getting ready to be available!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Wow… great set of posts here y’all… that trigger haul beats all
