So, I’ve had the itch for trolling since the other day aboard Angler’s Dream. So, I asked Otter and my old neighbor Tommy if they wanted to go today. They were in despite knowing the “fun” we could have in the slop we were going to be fishing in and the even funner stuff on the way. So, left Remley’s @ 4am (trailer still intact, more on that later) and headed out in the direction of 226. We were tired of riding and anxious, so at 6:30 dropped lines in 140’. Pushed our way out until we hit a bunch of scattered grass and flyers in 260’. We ended up working 260’-350’ back and forth. The bite was not fast and furious, but the team grinded it out over the next few hours and put some nice phins in the box. Highlight of the day was as we were pulling in lines, Tommy started fishing his ballyhoo like KVD works a jerkbait and bam, a 25# bull rewards him for goofing off, . The ride in wasn’t the best we’ll say, but again, the Pioneer 197, bust through 'em and was rock solid yet again. All in all, one of the toughest days of fishing I’ve had on my boat with the weather and ocean making it tough on us. Watched a wahoo destroy my Big Daddy Waxwing in the wash right before he disappeared with it. I think he is hanging out with the mystery fish that freight trained us and took away a Black Hole. And, to conclude the story, noticed as we were pulling the boat out that someone had hit the trailer and bent the fender on the wheel and bust up the light. Oh well, another day on the ocean, another dollar gone away, yet still a great day! Thanks again fellas.
Good job, Andy. Glad y’all 1) got out and back to the hill safely and 2) put some meat in the box. Good stuff…

Good stuff man. I still want to see your new boat one day. Maybe from the perspective of a person seated in a beanbag in the back on the dry side.

Man that sucks about your trailer. That landing get congested at times, but still no reason people should be taking out other peoples equipment. Glad you got on some fish though.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

My 222 rides better than a lot of 24-25’ boats I’ve been on. Nothing wrong with the gas bill on them either. $150 in gas beats $500 any day.

No joke, the boat is a solid overachiever. Fished in that slop yesterday while running 20 out and 18 in, slow and steady. Needs the gull wings on it to keep you a little dryer, but you would have gotten wet in a lot of center consoles yesterday. Hull is solid. The layout of the boat is super efficient, too, kinda like the fuel efficiency…40 gallons yesterday with a boat loaded down and plowing through all sorts of stuff. Maybe in a few more weeks I’ll stop talking about it, but I’m still amazed at the boat’s abilities when utilized correctly.
I have a similarly sized sea hunt. What kind of trim tabs do you use?
