Got2Go 5/28/15....A long day

With school almost out, and the dolphin bite slowing down, me, Northchucky, and Chuck Norris made a last minute decision to fish Thursday after my jury duty was cancelled. It was pure chaos Wednesday night just trying to get ready, but by midnight, the Pioneer was sitting on go, loaded down with everything. 3am arrived way too early and we were off, leaving Remley’s at 5:30am with the Edisto Banks as our destination. As we cleared the jetties, noticed how the ocean was: (a) sloppy (b) slight chop (c) flat like a flip flop…I guess I should have checked over the weather again, but hey, I’ve got a Pioneer 197sf, [:0]. So, enough humor, on to the carnage of the day…Stopped in 70ft to check out some cobia stuff and couldn’t keep the grown ajs away! Saw 2 pods of brownies, but the ajs were too aggressive. We pushed on as we grew impatient and wore out from topwater explosions and jig inhalations. Arrived at the ledge and began fishing…lots of action, but way too much work reeling in from 200’ in my humble opinion. Started trolling in the 80 water temp as we listened to the fleet have an epic billfish bite, specifically blue marlin bite not too far away. It was the coolest part of the trip just listening to “the pros” work together on this gigantic bait ball. We got one nice cow and a big rainbow runner after trolling 4 hours. What few fish were caught were in 280-400’ or so we heard and saw. Few fish caught really deep. So, as we trolled way north, we would stop and fish all sorts of deep bottom. Lots of fun, but lots of work, especially on the Ajs. Around 4pm and now north for the ride in, we headed in shallower for the first time and added some groceries to the box. Ended the last 30 minutes of the day battling very respectable and endangered, red snapper. Tax collector showed up at the end and had D bowed up into the night. Arrived back at Remleys’s at 10:30pm wore out from a full day and running 175 miles for the day! Thanks yet again D for all the effort and hard-work. Time to go clean

Good report, Andy. Glad y’all had a safe trip.
