Got2Go 5/30/14...Father and Son Spadin'

It has been a very busy month for me with me fishing and boating more than I can ever remember. Sadly, my “busy” season has concluded now that school is out and overtime has kicked in. So, to end it, I opted to enjoy the weather and take my dad out for a little spadin’ at the reefs today. We were out there by 7am this morning and failed to see any spanish or menhaden on our adventure. After some riding around, found a school of them 20’ down. It took a few times I must say to get the Pioneer anchored up just right, but after that the fish didn’t let us down. No giants today, just bent rods for most of the morning on light tackle. Shrimp, squid, and Berkely Powerbait all worked well for us on #4 circles and long 20# flouro leaders. We were able to avoid the nasty storm this afternoon as we were back at Remley’s well before lunch. Thanks again, to Robert Olsen of Knot @ Work charters for his Facebook page and willingness to help others out. Truly a stand-up guy and a great charter captain.

 nice!

We saw a huge school of spades a few weeks ago at Y73 with no small gear or hooks but was fun to see. Hope to get my kids out soon to enjoy some light tackle fun. Thanks for the report.,
