As I crossed 526 by WestVaco this morning coming home from work, my half shut eyes noticed the flag at a stand still. Suddenly, my beaten up body and mind were now alive. My buddy made the hint about going fishing and the mad dash to make the trip happen was put into place. We arrived at our spot around 11am with lines in around 11:15 after some anchoring and such. Within a moment or two, spades were coming over the side. We lost alot today, trying to fish w/ 8# mono and 12# flourocarbon leader makes it tricky when you hook a fat spadefish 15-20’ under the boat. We decided to try something different after an hour or so, and in the boat goes a fat 25# cobia. The action was crazy fast the next little bit as the artificial bite was on like crazy! The downside was that I lost alot of lures to fish that we just couldn’t stop including one slob of a cobia and my shackle gave way on my dear 'ol Mighty Mite.
Trevally spinning rods and Spheros reels with 50# braid and 80# mono leader almost locked down. Anyways, ocean was alive today and even had a big school of baby flyers get busted right by the boat. Lines in @ 2:30pm and ran 35mph back to the hill. Off to rest the aching body, fish to clean in the early morning, and a day on the boat with the Mrs. in the late morning.
