Man oh man, have the last 6 weeks been busy for me and Mr. Keys. No fishing. None. Nada. So, with a chance to finally go Friday, we had to try it. After numerous crappy forecasts our snapper plans went south and we prepared for a day of big, bull reds. We slept in and planned to just enjoy the day. Well, we rolled into Remley’s around 7:30am and noticed how nice the weather was. Hmmm, glad my jigging rods are used for reds and offshore. A quick run to the harbor and a throw of the net had the livewell full of menhaden. Ran to the jetties to set-up, but noticed how nice it looked. So, we eased out just to see and maybe jig a few buoys. With storms to our north and offshore, we eased the throttle down and in no time our back-up plan was now our game plan. Mr. Keys wasted no time in getting back into rhythm as the jumbo b-liners started coming over. Me, I was set on live bait fishing until a dolphin interrupted me on the drift rod. High fives abound as we were both excited to be out. My fishing is slower, but the jumbo cbass are keeping things steady. Flat line goes off and I end up landing a nice 6-7’ shark. Straight mono and hooked in the corner. As I’m fighting it, I tell D to get the other rod and our first legal scamp is in the boat. After the cooler was filled with “chicken rig” fish, we both hunkered down with the live bait. Our efforts were rewarded with a double hook-up of these guys. It wasn’t even 1:30pm, but we opted to head in despite the action with work looming the next day. On the way in, something made me check out one spot…good decision, . D caught this nice gag, , followed by another one. Some bruisers were there, but our 60# mono leaders and light tackle couldn’t stop them on the rocks. Called it quits at 3:30pm and cruised in on a flat ocean sipping a cold one. Today, we fished with alot of luck and I’m very thankful for it. Thanks again D.
Sounds great, sleep in and still go out and put together a day like that. Great report, I have read it several times taking it all in.

Unbelievable day, can’t be thankful enough for the good fortune we had.
We were about to leave one area and run over somewhere else and well heck we saw a set of numbers we hadn’t scoped out… “well let’s see what’s down there real quick”… ummmmm GLAD WE DID!
Doubled up on these guys:
(Got2Go’s was bigger… hate to say, but true )
Decided to “just check another spot real quick” on the way in… ummmm GLAD WE DID!
Fought like a BEAST on the spinning reel…
Just an awesome day. The cards lined up perfectly for us yesterday, thanks for the invite as always Andy. Gonna grill up some fat steaks tomorrow!

Glad to see you are back Andy. You guys tore’em up!
Call me!
Nice fish. Like you guys its been since March for any fishing for me but it is from shoulder survey. Still wont see any offshore for another few months. Sometimes plan B is better than plan A. What kind of water depth were you in?
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
Great Grouper. Sounds like you returned just in time.
There is not much I don’t know about boats, but somehow I still see something new every day.
I glad you got out. I have not fished in 2.5 months. I am missing it hardcore, hopefully this fall I will be back at it.
