Got2Go 7/2/09 Cooper River Stripers

Headed to the Cooper River this morning for a short trip to try for some schooling stripers. To my surprise, only a boat or two, including good fishing buddy, Miss Amanda, were out there. The water started to get pulled around 9:30, 15 minutes after we arrive , and it was just a matter of time until we figured it out how to catch 'em. RookieFlyFisher (who needs to change his name to intermediate fly fisher), started busting 'em on the fly rod in a hurry. I worked all sorts of topwaters, flukes, and jerkbaits and held my own with my dainty spinning rod. We left at 10:45am to go get some lunch, having caught 15. Most fish were around 2#, but we had 4 that were over 4# with the big fish maybe 5.5#. Great day on the river with a good friend.
