Got2Go...April-May catch-up (No pics, yet...)

First off, thanks to my wife for allowing me the chance to sneak in a few trips despite after having a newborn March 30th. Thanks to all of those that have been posting over the last few weeks. To say I’ve been busy or short on time nowadays is an understatement. Thanks to all of those who have filled me on depths and areas when I haven’t had the time to look or research. Thanks to those who have taken their time to help me rig the boat and various other things that I needed help with. All of it is appreciated and I humbly thank everyone of ya’ll for the help.

So, no detailed stories, but more of a cliff notes version of the the last 3 trips.

Trip 1 (April 30th)…What an awesome ocean! We started out way south of the 226 to avoid the crowds with the tournaments going on around 500-600ft. The bite was slow, just picking at fish in the low 20s. We pushed out to 1200’, but never found anything. Around noon, we headed back in and got on some fish in 220’ amongst the fleet. We saw the life and temperature in the morning riding out, but was fishing “yesterday” and not trusting my gut. Despite all of the boat traffic, we starting pulling fish in as others watched around us. I credit 100% to the new Marsh Tacky riggers as the outriggers got almost all of the bites. The outriggers combined with the lighter wind-ons and natural looking Captain Ed’s witches paired with the smaller ballyhoo, and squid chains running charter-style from the riggers made the difference, at least to me. A good first trip of the year, but the crew chemistry was a little off on the first trip.

Trip #2 was aboard the Angler’s Dream with Captain Jordan. Another awesome ocean, but the fish were scattered for us yet again. There is another post already on this, but my pro tip is to take no pictures with pretty girls. It doesn’t matter if you talk about your wife and 3 kids and how Jesus changed you to her most of the day. Your wife didn’t hear all of that. She’ll just see you smiling and taking a picture with a woman in

I particularly like the advice about the pictures. It all seems well and good til you start missing pieces of your rear end! Good luck with the little one, and Congrats! Nothing can replace that love.

A few pictures from our trips and the payoff afterwards! I wish sometimes I’d take more pictures, but with 2 people on the boat usually we get caught up riggin more baits and such. plus we forgot our dolphin whooping club last trip so straight in the ice off the gaff for those fish. All the Marsh Tacky stuff is legit. Gaff is super lightweigh, sharp, and plenty stout for 30 pound bulls. Riggers are super simple to use and caught us a ton of quality fish including the sail. Highlight of the month for me was that sail for sure. Thanks again Andy for putting up with me! Let’s go get some grouper soon.

Congrats on that nice sail, i believe i was on the boat nearby when we saw you get it to the side of the boat. We were wondering why you had a fish boatside without a gaff, and then the sail popped up out of the water and ended the mystery, haha. How many dolphin did you end up with that day? Same day as that pic of 8 from northchucky?

Nice report G2G and congrats on the little one.
