Thursday’s ride out was harsh to say the least, with a mean head sea and heavy wind. We headed out on 150 Deg, dropped lines at 140 feet, and worked the area between 150 and 400 feet all day. The bite was very slow, especially in the AM. I was going to head deep, but the chatter from the charter captains indicated a very slow bite out there too, so we stayed inshore of 400 feet. We ended up with 6 dolphin and a sailfish (25-30 lbs?). All but one of the dolphin were solid (good-sized) fish, with the largest teetering between 30 and 31 on the scale at the dock.
As always, no hands were placed on the billfish, and she was released without leaving the water. She was full of vigor and color when released and swam away to slash some more baitfish another day. Congrats to John for manning the rod on his first sailfish today.
The wind was pretty stong out there, but it also kept us from roasting in the heat, so it was a mixed blessing. I enjoyed meeting and fishing with all of you fellers and you are welcome back anytime. You know where to find me. Thank the Good Lord for a safe trip, good friends, and good fishing.
Tucker took a lot of pics, but couldn’t feasibly send them all to me. Here are a few from his Nikon.

Thanks again!! I had a great time fishing with you yesterday. How are the forearms feeling this morning??? It was great to meet the rest of you guys that went yesterday and I am sure we will see more of each other in the future.
You’re welcome, Tom. You know you’re welcome along anytime.
Thanks, Big Ron.
PT, I’m not fishing trhe 50/50. I’m assuming it’s on a Saturday, and I can’t fish Saturdays; so, that rules out most tournaments for me.
23Sailfish, you’re such a sly fox; but avas, it is to no avail. That particular bait is are no longer manufactured. Besides, I caught your spy, Jerms, taking close-up pictures of it on the last trip anyway. Brutal!
Cane Creek, we went out at 150 Degrees and fished between 150 and 400 feet (back and forth) all day. FYI, there was a band of scattered grass around 220 feet (pain in the butt in the morning) that finally started forming up into nice weedline in the PM, but got we no fish on it. They were all out in open water. It may still be out there somewhere, though, and may be holding fish by now (?); but who knows how far it has moved from wind and current by now. Current generally flows toward the NE and the wind has been blowing out of the south and west; so, it’s probably a little closer in and more to the north by now if it’s still together. Hope y’all have a good one tomorrow.

Jerms was only taking those pictures because you promised us a tuna slaughter and didn’t deliver. Those jpegs are sitting at the bottom of his virtual recycle bin today. LOL?
Keep in mind that some people here may not realize that you are joking, 23, and may not have read your gracious report and kind comments of your trip on my boat or seen the pics of the 2 mahi, 2 blackfin, and the 3 fat wahoo (40, 45,and 50 pounds) that we put in the boat that day. They might see your comment as an attempt to bring down an otherwise-good fishing report, and turn it south. I realize that you were just using that sharp tongue of yours (actually sharp FINGERS, since you’re an extremely soft-spoken gentleman in person). For the others reading this, don’t misunderstand the friendly, faux p-nis measuring here. 23 is a friend of mine. He and Jerms are very nice folks. He’s just getting me back for noticing how much he looks like his dog.

Grow a beard and call me for the next trip. I want to do a photo-op trip–all beards and pirate garb. Except for me. I’ll wear a Yarmulkah and a Tallit. Should be a real kick if the DNR stops us.

Tis true. I can’t hold my love for Lee in any longer! Come here big guy; gimme a hug!!!
For the record, I think everyone pretty much knew I was joking. I don’t know how anyone couldn’t like Lee or enjoy fishing with him. We had a slow day with the tuna, but the fat wahoos more than made up for it in my book.
