Finally got a “break” in the weather (YEAH, RIGHT) and got out on the ocean. Fished near the GTH for about 3-4 hours and caught 5 Blackfin Tuna. Didn’t fish as long as usual due to the sea, but I’m satisfied. Red meat will make me happy just about any day. Caught them all in about 450 feet. The largest was 30 lbs on the scale. Pulled hook on two others. The sea was very rough out at the hole–about as rough as I would want to mess with in my boat–and very mixed up. Seas closer in were actually quite nice, though.
Thank the Good LORD in the Name of Jesus for a good time with good friends, some good-eatin’ tuna tobring home, and a safe return. To the guys who went along this time: I enjoyed having you all–a fine group of fellas.
Day totals: 5 Blackfin
Location: Near GTH
P.S. Congrats to a couple of my guests today on their first tuna. You’re welcome along any time, guys.

Hey, man. It’s Lee, reporting. Dad doesn’t talk on the website. He reads it occasionally, though. Dad told me he talked to you Monday morning, but he didn’t go with us yesterday. I tried to call you Monday afternoon but I didn’t get an answer and I figured you were busy making ready for your charter or something. I’m kind of glad Dad didn’t go with me this trip because the ocean was way too rough, IMO. He likes is baby’s-butt smooth (who doesnt? ). I have been waiting way too long to get back out there, though, and I just WENT (knowing it was going to be a little hairy out there) because I couldn’t stand not being out there any longer. I hope to get Dad out there on the Founatin on a few tuna trips this year when it’s nice and calm (and hopefully when the yellowfin are making more of an appearance).
Anyway, I got kind of a late start Tuesday morning and figured y’all were long gone from port by the time we hit the jetties. So, I just went on up around where I usually do this time of year–between GTH and SWB. There was a huge sportfisher near us for a little while. I thought it might be you. Other than that, we only saw one other boat all day out there.
Juice,
The temp was 69-71.
Touche,

Put a dab of oil on the pan on 3/4 high.
Wait until pan it hot–sizzles a drop of water.
Sear for 7-8 seconds each side.
Take it off and put it on a plate.
Put a bunch of butter, salt, pepper, and fresh minced garlic in a glass and heat the glass in the microwave until the butter is boiling.
Stir it briefly and quickly and pour the whole glass of butter mix over the steak.
Slice it thin like roast beef with a sharp knife.
Eat it and try to keep those strange vocal noises to a minimum lest people think something is going on in there.
You won’t be able to, and your wife will come in to see what the commotion is all about.
