I decided to stop by my one of my secret shore fishing spots on the way to work this am for the first time since the spring. I only had about 15 min and wasn’t seeing any schooling so I decided to blind cast. The only fish I ever saw break water did it about 10’ in front of my plug as I was working it in and pounced on it a few seconds later.
Not my target species, but any fish is fun on top water and it put on a great show while I was reeling it in.
Good thing access to that top secret honey hole is limited. Otherwise someone might be able to tell where you are. I miss my daily trips to that spot. See any bait?
HA … Go post that pic on the Inshore Discussion Forum …
Great Catch … Yesterday evening (6:30 - dark) we looked around Beaverdam to the Condo to Bear to John’s Creek and back to Beaverdam and saw … nothing …
Hopefully this evening will be better although it REALLY sucks that I lost our ramp keys …
Tom, I didn’t see any bait or schooling. A couple of guys that were on the pier said they’ve been going regularly and they have been seeing some schooling, but not this morning…and they hadn’t seen any within casting distance.
Rick, if I get off work in time I may be looking for schooling fish this evening also. If so, I’ll probably put in and look around the Balentine area. Call you if I make it out.
I’m going out with my daughter after work. She wanted to go this past weekend but the weather was terrible. This will be our last lake murray trip, the wife and kids are moving up to Pittsburgh Saturday. I’m staying behind to sell the house so I have a few more trips.
Catching largies on topwater is one of my greatest fishing pleasures. It still doesn’t top a 20+ pound striper melting my spool when hooked on any bait. But it’s still great! Nice looking fish Tim!
