gov cup cup charter question??

can anyone give me an idea how much it would cost (ballpark) to charter a sporty during a gov cup event. would be including all calcutta levels. Have not inquired with anyone yet. Just trying to get an idea. Thanks!

I’d say around $13,000 to $15,000 all in.

yikes!!!

It would depend on the tournament too.

does that include beer?

Spendin 15 grand in a week? Dang!!
I’ll sell ya some fresh Spanish maks though, great Marlin bait!

Take Megadock for example. You’re looking at $2500 entry fee ($2750 if you sign up after April 15th). Add at least another $6000 for calcuttas if you get in across the board. Now add $2,400 to $3,000 a day to charter a sportfishing boat. The price for a charter for a tournament day is likley going to be more than for a standard gulf stream trip due to the extra cost of baits for running double or triple tier split tail mullett dredges, etc. Throw on top of that tip for the crew, food, drinks, etc for two days of fishing and your easily pushing the $15,000 range. If you have the means I highly recommend participating :).

Maybe more for above average crew…

We fish the Georgetown and the CBC every year for about 1500.pp,6 of us.Find somebody who has a boat and wants to fish it.

Last year to go across the board at megadock cost $19,000

Mega dock is awful. It’ll cease to exist if it keeps the path it’s on now.

So, how does it work if some big bucks are won on a boat that is chartered for a tournament?

Does that money go entirely to the party that chartered the boat, since they are the ones that put up all the fees and paid for the charter? … do they owe the crew anything other than a monster size tip?

Doing something like that is way beyond my means, but just curious how that works.

Typically a percentage of the total winnings, after all expenses are taken out, goes to the crew. The percentage varies but should always be specified before hand.

Yes, it is a sinking ship! They are running it like a corporation instead of a fishing tournament and, unfortunately, greed has ruined what once was a great tournament!!!

If you charter a sport fisher, Get it in writing how much $$ goes to the boat and crew or the percentage of winnings!! We used to get 30% 10%Boat,10%capt.,10%to the boat, you got to remember the crew is or is supposed to be professional,All line is new, everything gets changed, new hooks, wire, leader, etc. The best Baits are used or artificial s whichever.
Nothing is left to chance Nothing,But GET it in Writing so there is no misunderstanding or fighting!!! GOOD-LUCK and think you’ll win and you just might!!
