GPS antenae for tablet

Any of you guys ever use one of these with you tablet to get better reception so you can take it out on the water…?

I’ve not, but I have used Google
Nexus 7 (2012 model) with excellent
results using MemoryMap software
and charts.

ditto on Nexus 7, use mine with Navionics with superb results. I also have a Humminbird 893 and both were spot on in sync when compared together. I don’t see a need for the external antenna as long as you don’t have a thick fiberglass top.

I have a tablet that does not get good reception in the car. You can use one of these…

Not advocating that one in particular, I haven’t used whatever model I have at home, can’t remember. That is what used to be used before they built in the GPS. You can put it in a ziplock bag and put it in a better spot on the boat.

I didn’t know the tablets got bad reception when outside. My ipad has the built in gps, only available on the 3G models, and it seems to work fine while outdoors stuffed in a backpack.

What type of tablet are you using? wifi Ipads have no built in gps antennae.
