My gps / depthfinder display is acting up. for some reason, when i am going fast ( anything over 20 in my boat )the depth on the screen starts blinking and showing dashes (–) and when i’m going slow it only says 10-15ft in areas where i know are deeper than that… but when im closer to the shore in 5ft or less it is accurate. it is a lowrance HDS 5. does anyone know what could be causing this. any info is greatly appreciated,
Check your transducer, make sure you haven’t hit something and got it out of level with the boat bottom.
Check your transducer positioning- if it is mounted too close to the motor,too high,too low, or near one of the "ribs"on the bottom of the boat you will get wash disturbing the signal.
