" GPS module not reponding "

We got pounded pretty good on the way back in Sunday. At about 30 miles out the GPS gave up. It’s Lowrance 111 - " GPS Module not responding ". Every few minutes we’d get it back for a few minutes until it quit reponding for good.

It never gave me any problems until it got hammered Sunday. Do you think something just came loose… Any ides…?

perhaps - perhaps not

not being a smartazz but you may have had something come loose. your module has its own power supply, fuse, and plug. check them all as well as the plug into the unit. if all that is good, your module may have crapped out. try rebooting the unit after you make certain all connections are good

Is it an LGC-3000??? I have the same issue…trouble shoot by measuring voltage between pins 1 and 2 at the connector the module plugs in…if that is 12 volts you have a bad module. Do a search on it, these things are prone to breaking…be prepared to spend 30 minutes on hold until you get anyone from Lowrance on the phone…

Mine is a LGC 2000. I need to find someone around here that has a Lowrance that uses the same type GPS module ( LGC 2000 or 3000 ) so I can verify it’s the module or the unit it’s self.

Are they repairable or do they just need to be replaced…? I hate to even call Lowrance - everytime I call them they act they’re doing me a favor …

Those 12 volts would be coming from the unit…it that right…? I think I read that voltage is suppose to be 5 volts… is that correct.

I had to replace my LGC2000 and Lowrance was very helpful. I did my homework and found the troubleshooting sheet on their website, did what it said, then called Lowrance. They had me one in two days. I’ll try to find the link for you.

That’s the process…it’s almost certainly the module…

Been there done that…call lowrance and get a return authorization number and send your module back. You can trouble shoot all you want, I tried everything. Save your time and send your module back.

On a side note… Lowrance sucks. The modules fail all the time. There is a reason Lowrance is cheaper than Garmin. You get what you pay for. I will never buy Lowrance again.

I found that page right after I posted…

Was that an exchange or was that a new purchase…? I’ll problably have to be upgraded to a 3000. How much did you have to pay for the 3000…?

I’ll try to troubleshoot one time - then it’ll go back to Lowrance. What was the turn around time on getting a new one or having your module repaired…? Thanks…

what is the difference between 2000 and 3000? Mine is doing the same thing, but I’m sure it got fried by my radar.

they will send you a new pretty quick.

I just had to send a Lowrance back, and I got it back in one week from the date they got it. I also had the same problem on Tuesday morning, I did a soft reset and also disconnected the cable to the antenna and plugged it back in and now it is working.

Called Lowrance - on hold for 45 mins. - ordered the module, ordered another 2000 after the tech said the 2000 and 3000 are all but the same unit except one ( 2000 ) runs on blue connection and the other on red - it’ll take at least two weeks to get the module - back ordered, wouldn’t you know…

Exchange price - $112 Not a bad price.

Fishb8-- call Jason about that.

I love my lowrance 310c. Going strong after 4 years and never had a hiccup. 650 hours…

They’re not all bad.
