this has probably been covered before. . but my the gps module on my fishfinder/gps combo has stopped working. Everytime I turn it on it just says “gps module not responding” It’s an eagle fishfinder that has just passed it’s one year warranty. I’ve conducted the “hard reset” to no avail. Any ideas? Is there anywhere I can take this to get worked on/fixed for less than I would pay to replace? I can’t afford another 500 bucks to buy a unit that only lasts a year.
Eagle is made by Lowrance and unfortunately the “Hockey puck” GPS antennas have a high failure rate. If you go to the Lowrance site the have a doc that tells you how to trouble shoot the problem to determine whether or not it is the antenna or the head unit. I have a LCX 28C HD and had the same problem, it turned out that I had low voltage to the NEMA2000 network. One of my batteries was dying. Low voltage is a common cause of the “module not responding” problem, the other common problem is the reliability of the “Puck” sucks, in my case the LCG3000. When mine goes I am going to replace the antenna with a Garmin NEMA2000 antenna.
Good luck…
