i have been compiling a list of GPS numbers for SC all listed DNR artificial reefs and also a bunch of wrecks I see on Navionics. as well as some other stuff. Other sites I have been on have stuff like this published but I see no forum for Reefs and Wrecks. Now I have some 500+ gps numbers in a single gpx file for anyone interested. I have also converted for HummingBird and can convert for most any device. If you are nice to me , I am sure I can send it to you.
you can find, hummingbird, lowrance and gpx file export in this zip file.
UPDATED, i have added kmz files for SC and Ga Google earth
I have also added ga usr file and SCGACoastal.gpx file in the zip which contains Ga as well as SC and Pensacola Florida, Still working on the Whole of Florida.
Link above didn’t work. Needed capital S and C in southcarolina.

Cool and thanks for saving me alot of work. I was actually in the middle of updating my coord list and moving my old numbers from lowrance to my new (awesome) garmin. What programs do you use? I have been using google earth and GPS Bable.
Well I am a database administrator by day so i work with stuff like this all the time. I copied the DNR stuff straight into excel and exported to CSV file droped the columns i did not need, and the " i did not need , added the N and W all search and replace in notepad and then I used GPS babel to get it where I could import into Navionics and , from there i exported in usr lorance file which I could import into Hummingbird PC. For some reason hummingbird pc does not like GPS babel formating so I am still learning how to get around that.
of course this would be posted now, I just wasted my time doing the same thing a month or so ago:smiley:
but really, thanks for sharing, I hadn’t put in all the wrecks.
I also have had good luck converting with this, http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input. web-based and no telling where your data goes, so I don’t know that I’d put in any super-secret numbers but it seems to work well, especially for plain text/CSV/tab delimited stuff. I’ve also had some problems with GPS Babel-converted files working on my Lowrance - the unit should import GPX but for some reason doesn’t like *.gpx files that GPS Babel has touched. Reads *.usr files by GPS Babel fine.
I also use a free plotter program (http://opencpn.org/ocpn/) to display waypoints and build routes, etc. You can download the electronic charts from NOAA, not as detailed as fishing-specific charts but pretty good. It will also import/export .gpx files.
I would like to be able to input, edit, plot, display charts and overlay satellite photos, print lists and/or maps, convert/import/export, etc from a single program but I haven’t found one that will do it all!
Yeah I have had alot of trouble with conversion accuracy as well. I was just plotting my converted numbers for the Y-73 and it was over a quarter mile off.
Do you have a program that accurately converts Loran C to GPS? Most programs I have seen don’t get you close.
I'll send you some details... But for the most part, anyone who tells you that they can get exact conversions is just blowing smoke up your ass since Loran-C was only so accurate to begin with. Typically, if you can get conversions that are accurate from 60-300', you are doing pretty good.
Cant get adobe to recognize file on this pos droid x2
fish today work tomorrow
Adobe if for PDF viewing, these files are coordinates to be downloaded directly to your GPS unit, usually by SD card. I have a Garmin and it likes the .gpx files. I assume the others available from the link are for the humminbird and lowrance.
Now, your X2 is a pos because its a Motorola. HTC all the way!
UPDATE, i have added kmz files for SC and GA
I have also added an updated gpx file SCGACoastal.gpx that includes all of Ga reefs and wrecks also

ok last update i promise. Its getting more and more difficult as the files get larger, I found noaa website where they have data in msdb files. So I imported a few more. This is about the limit on what I can import before things get complicated so this is where I stop posting. some of the noaa stuff are obstructions, it should be labled as such, but I have found many sites listed in one database as obstruction and another as a wreck. so I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I do believe they are pieces of old wrecks.
Link is broken again. I still can’t get my new Garmin 4212 to read any files no matter what format I have them in. It probably doesn’t like the way the SD card is formatted.
JordanOnaYak the problem with standards is that everyone has their own. Seriously a GPX file is suppose to be a standard, but I find they are all different. So take the hummingbird one I supplied, go to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/gpsbabel_convert and use the all.hwr file from my zip. convert that to garmin format. should work for you. let me know.
