GPS/Sounder combo

My head is spinning after reading up on all of the new offerings…and I could use some direction/opinions.

I recently purchased another Bentz Craft, and will use this one on the other side of Charleston (Ashley/Stono/Wando/etc) where I am not as familiar with the waterways, and therefore want to go with a GPS combo unit on this boat.

I would like to stay “cheap” while not sacrificing quality and options.

I’m aiming at a Humminbird Helix 5 DI right now, but a lot of the comparable options from other companies are so much higher priced than the Helix model…and the disparity between the price doesn’t reflect in the options/features.

Any ideas for an entry level combo? Experience with the Helix?

Thanks

I just bought one of these this past Monday. The HD downscan is so detailed, I could see my trotlines and drop strings under the boat in 30 foot of water. Absolutely amazed by its performance. There is a $50 mail in rebate good on purchases through the 5th too.

I bought the Lowrance Elite 4 and have only used it once. Still learning, but so far I love the screen resolution and all of the options

If you want, I have a Standard Horizon CP180i that’s brand new in the box – I would let it go for cheap, seeing as I’m now boatless. It’s got a 5" color screen, GPS and depthfinder.
