grab rail fabrication

I’m looking for someone who can fabricate a simple grab rail for my center console. It just needs to be one of the over the windshield with another rail teeing off that down to the “tabletop” of the console type doohickeys. A typical bayboat console grabrail. I know Happy Bob is good but he’s in Columbia. I’m looking for someone in Charleston. Super cheap is not necessarily what I’m looking for. I want someone good who can get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Me too. just wondering? Smaller diameter?

smaller diameter tubing is why I’d like to go stainless. Plus I think stainless can be bent a little tighter but I may not be totally correct about that. I may have explore other options.

Stainless tubing can be bent a little tighter than aluminum of similar size.(different type of bender). I can get 1/2" alum. pipe(approx. 3/4" O.D.) and it bends pretty tight.

But I know, I’m all the way up here, 15 miles SE of Columbia. A whole hour and a half away.</font id=“red”>:smiley:

Call me if I can help.

cool, since that’s such an insignificant amount of time and effort come get it and take care of it for me:wink:

If I thought my little Toyota would pull your boat, or if I had a mobile welder, I’d be down there in no time.

I’m just messing around Bob. Bringing it to Columbia may not sound like a big deal but it really is. I may end up doing it after all though. So do you do stainless?

there ain’t no shame in passin’ the rod

Yeah, I know you’re just messing around:smiley:, but I really would haul your boat up here and do the rail if I had a bigger tow vehicle.

Unfortunately, I’m not set up to do stainless work. I can weld it, but I can’t bend it, and I don’t have the stuff to polish it back out. Sorry.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, give me a call.

Thanks, Bob

Happy Bob do you do any anodizing or iriditing?

Nope. Just fabrication and welding.

If you’re looking for one to fit the Triton, they used to have a factory one that fits that boat upstairs at S’Lake. It didn’t come with that boat but it will fit. Call Ron and get him to check.

at the risk of joining the band* I will say that I have spent my last dime there. I would go without if that were my only choice. Thanks for the info though, I appreciate the thought.
