grays hill.

Hi there everyone. Finally had a chance to go out after sum shrimp.went out early yesterday so that the wife a friend and I could scout us an area out and do a little fishingandcatch sum bait for later trips. Anyways after finding a good spot up in a creek to the right of the landing we put our poles up about 3 hrs before dead low and baited them up. Well after we nocked the rust off and tied a few holes in the net we made passes on poles over the next 4 to five hrs we ended up with a quarter cooler of mainly small to medium with a few large mixed in. Just wondering if its to early to be upin the creeks. Talked to a few people at the landing and most had half a cooler. Low tide was at 8pm last night.
Thanks

you may have better luck on the in coming tide

If you went to the right from the landing I can understand the net repair! Just a couple of areas to stretch out poles and not hit an oyster rake betwen there and sea brock point (private landing just before big powerline). Scout the area at dead low to watch out for oysters. Also try taking a left, then take a right around little Barnwell and watch for the creek on the right just before the broad river. Enter creek and set up after first bend on left.

Ya we actually stayed for 3 hrs of the incoming tide. Next trip will do a little mpre scouting and less fishing. I did manage a nice 18" spot in the net by accicdent on one of the oysterbed finds. That was a good high light of the day.

I use Google Earth to “scout” new areas. Larger shrimp hold in deep water until dark. Look for a clean mud bank within a stone’s throw of the main, deep water river channel. Program the coordinates from Google Earth into your GPS. Program in a handfull of “polesets” so you have alternates if your first one is taken.

Most folks set up to the left (downriver) on the same side as the landing and within sight of the landing. There is almost a mile of good bank from the plantation house and downriver. There are plenty of oysters, so you must choose your coordinates so your poles are below the oysters.

You have to get there early to get a spot. It usually looks like a picket fence along there.
