Had a great day fishin only ended up landing one fish but it was a beauty, real nice red caught on cut bluefish. Right before I caught this one I had one hit and pull my rod right over the cooler and into the water, pulled my shorts off and jumped in hoping the water was deep enough to not hit oysters,I got the rod back but no fish, funny story either way. The one I did land was my biggest to date

I hate it when people get hurt. Please don’t do that. If you jump in and hit oysters it’s going to be very, very ugly. Might want those shorts on too [:0] At least eeaassee into the water feet first, don’t jump, with shoes A rod ain’t worth what the medical bills will cost. Just saying

Haha It was more about the fish than the rod, your totally right though,I realized it wasn’t worth it right before I hit the water, got lucky.
X 2 Cracker…be super careful near the oysters…These spot tail hit like a freight train, have had rods pulled in my self! Once just because I set rod down “for just a sec” another where the fish ripped the holder and screws out of my thin azz gunwale. Now I have them bolted w SS hardware and reinforced with a SS bracket I made myself!

Had a whiting pull a rod out of my hand while fishing between the motors of our SeaCat in 60’ once…yes, we have big sea mullets up in NC.
My first thought was, “well ****”. My second thought, after seeing it only a couple feet down after 3 seconds or so, was “crap I think I can get that”…especially since it was a Calcutta 50 reel on a G.Loomis rod. I jumped in and grabbed that sucker! Crawled back in the boat & reeled in a >1# whiting. No worry about oysters that day, but it was in the fall & the water was COLD. Luckily I had a change of clothes with me.
