Wednesday morning I brought my dad, son, and Key West down to Murray for the first time. Bought 3 dozen hering at LakeWorld(5:30am), launched at the dam(6:00am), and had the first fish on @ 6:08am in just before the towers. From then till about 8:30 it was fish after fish 19"-25". Most of the fish were caught 40’ and above, but a few hit the deep lines around 80’. Slowed down to a fish every 15 to 20 min after that. We ran out of bait around 10:30 and headed back to the ramp. We caught 18 fish kept 5 for the table and made memories for a lifetime. Here’s a few pics:

I thought this would be interesting to some. One is the school of fish we were working the other is the sidescan sonar shot of the towers and the fish and bait around them

The low input voltage is the washdown pump drawing too much juice.
Thanks to all for the advice:smiley:

Sorry for the edit

MOST EXCELLENT !!! just like I’ve been telling folks… fish EARLY then enjoy cruising and breakfast on the lake and be back at the ramp by 10 am… can’t be beat !! I forgot last week that a person could keep one fish shorter than 21 inches in July and August, due to the heat… again, NICE CATCH !!

Thanks, we made a effort to release all the fish caught above the thermocline, and only kept the one’s we brought up from over 50’. Size was secondary to releasing the fish in good shape although all of the fish we kept were 21" or over. It may not look like it from the pics, but it said so on the ruler. We did see alot of belly up stripers, probably from temp shock. The fish we released seemed to be in real good shape, but ya never know. Just doing what we can so that one day my boy might take me and his son out for a day of the same kind of action. Besides, I did’t want to clean any more fish and it gives me a great reason to go back.
