I decided not to brave the cold and wet on the boat this weekend so just decided to go through some new popper flies I got from Chas Angler. All of these fish were caught this weekend in the ponds on the golf course @ Pine Forest CC where I live in summerville. I was using my 6 wt St. Croix setup and the last couple of fish were pretty good size and gave me a great fight. Most fish were caught very close to the bank at the edge of the grass in a serious ambush… I almost dirtied my drawers on a couple of them they were so close… Never give up on a cast especially on top water. The bigger ones that I caught were on a medium to large Frog pattern that put all kinds of action on the water… All fish released healthy… the big one was a little bloody cause I had not pinched the barb down at all and had to dig it out a little bit… he swam away fine…
