Great Mahi Day Suday the 27th

Left the Jetties at 5:00 heading straight out. Four foot sees and a little choppy. Ran at 24 knots, but got kind of tired having our fillings break loose so slowed down to 18 for the last hour or so. Took about 45 minutes to find a broken up weed line in 76 degree water. But after that the fish were all over us. Just me and Captain Ron, so we did a few Chinese fire drills, but only lost one fish all day. For a break we stopped and chummed up some slingers that we got on light tackle. We could not get away from fish all day, in fact we only got all 5 lines out once for about 25 minutes. I have never had a trip where you were fighting with your buddy over whose turn it was, because you were tired of catching fish. Ran back in at 33 knots with a following sea. Hit 44 knots inside the jetties just to see what the Contender could do.

Ended the day with 18 nice gaffers(14-32lbs), 6-8 released slingers, and one 20 lb Wahoo.

Catch them all.

P.S. The hot bait was anything wet. Our new Mantra is “Gaff, rinse repeat”
