Great on 12-8-07

We had a great day on a very calm day on Saturday. Filled the cooler with limits of BSB ranging from 15-19 inches. We also caught one Red Snapper and one Grouper we were not sure of? Any ID help would be great. 40 ft of water. Almost forgot, also landed 3 large redfish between 27" and the biggest 38 inches 18 pds. Released unharmed ofcourse. Great Day.

Thanks All,
Eric

Black Grouper?

Dark Star

Did you pull the dorsal fins out? I almost want to say that it is a young, odd colored Warsaw… not sure…

This is not a chawade…

We need total concentwation…

thats a warsaw grouper but i cant believe u caught it in 40ft. nice job on your day.

Ya we couldnt tell if it was a Warsaw or a Black, but it had no coloration and we thought that the tail was wrong for a black grouper. Anyone else???

That is a Warsaw. The second dorsal spine appears to be longer than the first and third, which the main clue. I think possession is highly illegal, hoped you threw it back.

That is a Warsaw. I have never seen one that dark. It is legal to keep one per boat.

Beaufort Boy, you are thinking Nassau or Goliath.

Just stick to the inshore fishes… (trout , redfish, ladyfish, sheephead, black drum). We will answer the offshore fish ID’s
