Great Stuff

Anyone have experience using the spray foam Great Stuff sold in home improvement stores in a marine application? I have a small section of foam between the floor and hull on my flats boat that is detiorating and would like to replace. I know that boats are now constructed using closed cell foam to ensure no water absorption, was not sure if Great Stuff is closed cell? Will it absorb water? Do not want to use something that may turn into a wet sponge down the line.

Great Stuff is not marine foam. You could create more problems with that stuff than you have now in a very short period of time.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

It will absorb water…

Thanks for the responses. I see Evercoat makes a spray foam that is supposed to be closed cell and for marine use. I will plan to go that route unless someone has had some bad experience with this product.

Definitly will absorb water like a sponge, you want a closed cell polyurethane foam.
